Wrablers express their support and love for the Cricklewood Library project. Big love for the books.
We had such a fantastic time at this year’s CrickFest at the weekend. We met loads of lovely new people, several of whom have volunteered to help with our campaign – take a bow, Dee, Gillian, Bernette and Nora.
We also raised over £130 in donations, and loads of you promised to pledge support for our crowdfunding bid at Spacehive, so it was a very successful day.
Hats off to Marie, Danny, Angela, Anne, Osita and the rest of the team who made it such fun and entertaining day.
We’re very pleased to announce that our own Sonja Nerdrum, who runs the pop-up library at Willesden Green, will be performing at a fundraising concert for the library on 14 June. She will be performing works by Quilter, Thiman, Strauss, Grieg and Satie, and will be accompanied by pianist Mark Packwood.
About the Artists
Sonja Nerdrum began her singing career as a mezzo and later retrained as a soprano.
Her roles have included Rosina; Mirtillo (title role Il Pastor Fido); Dorabella; Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro); La Baronne (La vie Parisienne); Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus); Carmen; Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream); Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda; Tosca, Opera and concerts in U.K., Norway, France, Turkey, Middle and Far East. Sonja is on the coaching staff at the Royal Opera and has performed in the lunchtime concerts there with Mark Packwood. She also coaches at Royal College of Music.
Mark Packwood was educated in Worcestershire and North Wales and studied composition with William Mathias. After leaving the National Opera Studio, he joined the music staff of The Royal Opera and has worked for many English companies. Among artists he has played for are Angela Gheorghiu; Dimitri Hvorostovsky; Leontina Vaduva and François Le Roux. Mark is a composer of songs, choral and instrumental music and enjoys performing cabaret.
The performance will be at Rosslyn Hill Chapel on Friday 14 July, from 7.30pm. Refreshments will be available in the interval. Tickets are priced at £15.00 (full) and £8.00 (concs). They will be available on the door, but you can also buy them in advance online at Billetto.
We are so excited to have been selected for this round of the Co-op Local Community Fund. Funding for the library will come from Co-op Members. The Co-op gives 1% of everything their members spend on Co-op branded products and services to a local cause they choose – and you’ll be able to choose Cricklewood Library as your cause from 9 April to 7 October 2017.
