We’re in the news! The Brent and Kilburn Times recently covered the issues we’ve had with Octavia Housing taking forever to complete the remedial works we need in order to get into the library and begin our fit out. They were supposed to start at the beginning of the year and take just a few weeks, but here we are nearly in August and we’re none-the-wiser about when they’ll be finished.

We’re very excited about all of our summer courses (for details see CCT) but none more so than Cricklewood Tales, the informal oral history group that’s happening on Tuesdays at Ashford Place. We’ll be building a bank of Cricklewood memories of the ordinary and extraordinary people who live, work and play in Cricklewood. Could one of them be you? Check out some first memories of Cricklewood below – and why not share your own?

If you like your exercise to be sociable, why not get yourself down to our fundraising ceilidh at the Crown Hotel on Friday 13 April? We’ll be dancing to the rousing tunes of the Wraggle Taggle ceilidh band. They’re awesome – but don’t take our word for it! Here’s a review from their website:
“Everyone was dancing”
“Amazing!!! The band was superb. (16th September 2017 Saturday Granta, 14 Newnham Rd, Cambridge CB3 9EX) The songs were performed to the highest standard, and they were FUN. Our guests had an amazing time, and by the end, everyone was dancing. At one point, the band even called a miniature impromptu ceilidh dance: we don’t know who initiated this, but it was a fantastic read of the crowd, who adored it. Again, we received so many compliments on the band” Morgan & Scott Shepard 28th Sept 2017
You can check them out for real by buying a ticket here: http://buytickets.at/cricklewoodlibrary/153658. There’s a limited number of concession tickets available, so don’t be slow!

Have you noticed the road narrowing outside the library? They’ve been at it for a few weeks, and, according to the lone chap working there last Monday, he’ll be at it for another 8 weeks to finish it off. I’m not surprised, if he’s doing it all on his lonesome. It will make a substantial difference to the library surroundings and access to the park will be much easier for pedestrians. No more whizzing round the corner at top speed, motorists!
