Sally Long
Chair
Sally has lived in Cricklewood for over 25 years, and has campaigned since 2012 to get the library back open for the community. She likes walking her dog, singing in Cricklesingers, sitting down with Crickleknitters, swimming, cooking and sewing. She’s learning Korean and Spanish and messes about on the melodeon..
Sally started work as a secretary long ago, since when she’s been a cook in a cafe, an editor and copywriter, worked in sales for exhibition space done marketing and the inevitable administration. She’s worked for both the public, private, voluntary and financial sectors, working with Bloomberg Publishing, the Metropolitan Police, TimeOut, schools and the DfE. Her community work started with PTAs and led her to run dog shows, crowdfunding campaigns and do construction management. Sally graduated with a BA Hons (Italian with French) from UCL, qualified from Capel Manor College with a ND Horticulture/Garden Design and has trained in Participatory Appraisal.
Sally is currently also Chair of the Friends of Gladstone Park, is on the Cricklewood Town Team and the Mapesbury Safer Neighbourhood Team. In addition Sally is a Trustee of the national association for community libraries, the Community Managed Libraries Peer Network.
Sally’s skills include running meetings, conference and community events management. Sally’s also been a dramaturg for a successful fringe musical Frank’s Closet and co-written songs performed at the Barbican, the Palladium and the Albert Hall. Seeing the library open and well-used is a dream come true for her.

Lynette lives locally and first became involved with the Friends of Cricklewood Library group in the early 2000s, recording lectures given by local people (including most memorably, Norah Marshall’s stories of 1940’s life in the area).
